This is a character design and palette test for a short film that I plan to do soon. I am submitting to the commission on culture and arts. Its a tooned up version of a tarsier. Its a local primate (although I think its more of a lemur). The eyes are really huge when you get to see them up close. Making them really interesting to draw. This is an initial draft of the character but I'm already liking it. I did a sketch for a revision on the face already. I want it to look less primate.

The whole image was painted in photoshop running in my sony vaio along with a wacom sapphire tablet. All the brushes used were the default brushes. Started with a basic sketch of the character then blocked away with the skin tones highlights and shadows. There were two different tones in the skin. A lighter cream shade for the general body surface and a darker and more shinier skin tone for the fingers and ears and eyelids. Had to make the ear a bit transluscent (ala s.s.s.). And then finally the hair. Which was made with noise and smudges. The background foliage was a speed painting session.

The image was done in a total of 2 days.

All critiques welcome.
